LA PALMA DISASTER
DOCUMENTARY
Volcanoes are akin to giant, primordial, tempestuous beasts. As they go about their business, hissing and writhing, they remain “impermeable to the lifetimes of humans”
– Ailsa Naismith, Volcanologist
On September 19 2021, the eruption of a volcano on the Spanish isle of La Palma has forced residents to flee lava flows, ash fallout and toxic gas.
Two months later and with no end in sight, we met residents, emergency services, tourists and witnessed how life on the Island has been turned upside down.
